Position Summary:
The Procurement Specialist ensures that the company's materials and products meet all of their specifications. They locate key suppliers and negotiate purchasing agreements with them on behalf of clients to get higher quality goods at the lowest prices possible. They issue purchase orders and follow up on delivery dates, they manage inventory and reconcile records as needed.
**The Procurement Specialist is a W2 Position and is classified as an non-exempt employee.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Evaluate and maintain inventory levels in system(s)
Analyze and improve inventory management systems, including aid in the launch of a new ERP system
Manage the month end inventory process
Guarantee that products are delivered promptly and the quality of the goods delivered is satisfactory
Work within a given budget to buy goods and services for an organization
Negotiate with contractors on price, mode of shipping, and delivery time
Order goods such as raw materials, office and shipping supplies continuously to maintain certain inventory levels
Analyze vendor performance relating to pricing, product quality, availability and other key metrics
Work with internal stakeholders to identify business needs and communicate the benefits of early procurement involvement
Work with shipping/receiving to insure goods are received/transferred accurately
Seek new sourcing partners as needed to best align with Truly Free values and business growth plans
Implement procurement process to ensure efficiency, cost saving, and best practices
Aid in the facilitation of the transfer of inventory to regional distribution centers
Work with the finance team throughout the procurement cycle to assist with forecasting and budgeting
Retain positive work relationships with co-workers and strategic suppliers
Analyze market and delivery trends to develop procurement technologies and processes that support trends
Often work in office and warehouse environments
Work closely to other people
Supportive managers and co-workers in an overall healthy environment
Must be able to lift and manage drums and buckets of raw materials.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Prolonged periods standing and sitting
Perform other duties as assigned by reporting manager
Controls Over The Position:
Reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager. In the absence of the Supply Chain Manager, the Procurement Specialist will coordinate with the Chief Operations Officer.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Solid understanding of weights and measurements in grams, ounces, pounds- in both, liquids and powders
Strong attention to detail is a must
Excellent time management skills
Able to understand and create forecasts as needed
Ability to be self-led and work both independently and within a team
Excellent computer skills including the use of Slack and Google applications, especially Google Sheets.
Proven work experience as a Procurement Specialist or similar role
Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies
Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to quickly learn and use various business application software, purchasing and resource planning systems
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management or a similar field preferred
